Gardening has never been something I have been interested in. I do not have a green thumb. I have always felt like I would kill anything I tried to grow. To be fair, I don’t really know if I’m good at gardening or not because I’ve never really done it. Not by myself at least. My dad loves gardening and we used to have a vegetable garden in our back yard. I did not enjoy working on it AT ALL. It might also have been because I was 11 or 12 years old and wanted to do pretty much anything else. I grew to kind of resent yard work and gardening (which I lumped together) because it was one of my chores. Mowing the lawn is still an activity I HATE doing. But here I am, working on a garden. My husband has been doing all the research and preparing. He is probably the most excited about having a garden. I’m just along for the ride.
In April sometime he started getting these little peppers growing in our garage.
At the beginning of May we transplanted a few Cayennes and Habanero plants to these nice sized pots.
We also built a raised bed garden and planted tomatoes, carrots, beets, radishes and beans. I’m super excited to see them start growing! Ginny loves hanging around the raised bed and she loves the fact we have to water plants with a hose even more. She is hilarious to watch.
It’s been a great learning experience so far. Teaching me a little about patience and persistence. I have watched some little tiny plants that look completely dead come back to life in less than a day. It’s crazy!
If you follow me on Snapchat (username is emmypwns) I've been showing the gardens progress there. We are getting some big plants growing.
Did you do a garden this year? Any tips for a newbie?
